Respect for the environment

At CVO International, respect for the environment is not limited to attention to raw materials, the production process of our products or the ecological precautions of our suppliers.

Every day, we commit ourselves to respecting nature in order to give back what it gives us by minimising our carbon footprint.

Use of natural ingredients

“Producing the most delicious Belgian chocolates,” is the team’s passion.

That’s why we are focused on the strictest food quality requirements.

CVO International uses natural ingredients to prepare fresh Belgian chocolates. The delicious fillings, according to traditional recipe, are prepared in our own kitchen.

We guarantee that only raw materials that are certified GMO (genetically modified) free are used in the manufacture of our chocolates.

purchasing sustainable chocolate

95% of our purchased chocolate is certified. By the end of 2025, we will purchase 100% certified chocolate. Certified chocolate represents sustainable agriculture and better opportunities for farmers, their families and our planet.

The Rainforest Alliance and Fairtrade program enables farmers to learn better farming practices, improve working conditions and take better care of their children and the environment.

Through these programs, farmers grow better crops, generate more income and create better opportunities while protecting the environment and safeguarding the earth’s natural resources. Now and in the future.

Rainforest Alliance

Ecological footprint

CVO International will be carbon neutral by 2030.

Last year we already invested in making our production site more sustainable.

For example, a new refrigeration plant based on all-natural refrigerants was recently put into operation.

In doing so, CVO International makes no empty promises, takes its commitment very seriously and follows the “Science Based Targets”

No addition or use of preservatives

We do not add preservatives nor colorings to our chocolates. Our recipes contain mainly natural flavors, so you can enjoy honest and fresh Belgian chocolates.

Sustainable palm oil

The Certified Sustainable Palm Oil label from the RSPO (Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil) indicates that the palm oil in a product contributes to sustainable palm oil production.

Among other things, palm oil is notorious for deforestation of tropical rain forest. At the same time, palm oil is one of the most efficient vegetable oils.

RSPO is an international organisation where companies and environmental organisations (including WWF and Oxfam Novib) work to make palm oil cultivation more sustainable worldwide.

We ourselves do not add palm oil then, it is present in ingredients, which are needed to manufacture our speculoos and coconut filling.

Purchase of packaging

In addition to the quality of its chocolates, CVO International also pays great attention to its packaging.

All our packaging is 100% recyclable. This as well for the cardboard, the aluminum cans, the foil, the blister, ….

How are our chocolates packaged?

Our chocolates are individually wrapped in a flow pack as standard. This flow pack is extremely suitable for storing fresh chocolates at refrigerated temperatures. It protects the chocolate from negative influences such as condensation and bacteria. But this packaging also has a sustainability reason. We reduce the amount of food waste. After all, the environmental impact of food waste is at least as great as that of plastics.

In addition, customers can also opt for blister packaging.
The transparent blister makes it possible to present the chocolates in an attractive way, while keeping them firmly in place. This prevents damage or shifting during transport and sales.

Both types of packaging are 100% recyclable.

Our mission

UN SDGs

Our sustainability program follows the United Nations Sustainability Developments goals to end extreme poverty, inequality, injustice and climate change.

In the video below, we explain how we wish to make a difference:

IN THIS WAY WE HOPE, TOGETHER WITH OUR EMPLOYEES, TO DO OUR PART FOR A BETTER WORLD!
