CVO International stands for fresh Belgian chocolates with homemade fillings and a full, creamy taste. We prepare these fillings traditionally using only the very best natural ingredients. Chocolate lovers choose the unique taste experience and freshness of our Belgian chocolates.

Family business since 1978

The story of CVO International begins with the late Frans Vangertruyden. He grew up among sweets, a family tradition dating back to 1932. From 1978, he devoted himself to the artisanal manufacture of marzipan figures and coconut bars. In 1989, the chocolates were first introduced to the market under the name Ovidias, with Ovid as the ambassador of sweet pleasure.

CVO International holds the certificates according to IFS, BRC and ACG quality standards. We meet all these requirements with a percentage of the highest level. These control systems meet the strictest standards of current food legislation.

Second generation chocolatier

In 2017, the second generation steps on board the family business – daughter Miet Vangertruyden takes over the family business.

Like her father, Miet and her team strive for perfection and innovation.

What started in 1978 as a small confectionery company with two employees has grown into a company that produces 100% Belgian chocolates and serves international customers. More than 35 employees build this story with pride and passion.

Carefully selected ingredients

“Producing the very best Belgian chocolates,” is the team’s passion.

Therefore, we are focused in detail on the strictest food quality requirements. This has resulted in wonderful ratings over the past 15 years.

Ovidias uses only the best ingredients for the preparation of fresh Belgian chocolates. The delicious fillings, according to traditional recipe, are prepared in our own kitchen, without the use of palm oil.

CVO International guarantees that only raw materials certified GMO (genetically modified) free are used in the manufacture of its chocolates. Moreover, we do not add preservatives: our recipe contains mainly natural flavours, so you can enjoy honest and fresh Belgian chocolates.

The quality of our product always comes first, which is why we use Barry Callebaut chocolate of the highest quality: with only real cocoa butter with no substitution of other fats.

Our award-winning chocolates

Our Manon with mango and passion fruit won two stars. This award is given to products with an excellent taste, to which 80 to 90% of the total number of points was awarded. This is a great compliment for us, and we would like to thank everyone who helped make this possible!

In 2023, Ovidias bagged awards for 4 products. The Amores Collection and the Stirato tin were each awarded 1 star; the Amatoria and Metamorphoses Collections each received 2 stars.

Own R&D department

Since we highly value quality, it is important for us to do all product development in-house. With our experienced team we can thus optimise existing recipes and develop new products taking into account customer demand and market trends.
